StealthGas (NASDAQ: GASS  ) has ambitions to raise $100 million from the capital markets. The company put a price tag on its upcoming public share flotation, and upped the volume in the process — 10 million shares are to be sold, as opposed to the originally planned 8 million, and they will be priced at $10.00 apiece. “An entity controlled” by the family of CEO Harry Vafias has pledged to buy 500,000 of the issued shares, and the company’s underwriters have been granted a 30-day purchase option for up to an additional 1.5 million shares. StealthGas said it plans to use some of the proceeds of the issue to purchase five vessels for its fleet, three to be delivered in May, and two in the first half of next year. The remaining monies will be utilized for capital expenditures and “other general corporate purposes.” The Securities units of Wells Fargo and … Continue reading

RECOMMENDATION We have an Accumulate rating on Weyerhaeuser’s (WY) common stock. We believe that investors have bid Weyerhaeuser’s stock up by 75% over the last six quarters because they are counting on a recovery in the housing market to serve as a catalyst for growth in WY’s top and bottom lines. We can see that it would provide significant leverage to WY’s bottom line because 53% of WY’s operating income was used to pay debt interest so any boost to revenue would boost WY’s operating income and enable WY to generate significant gains in Net Income. We increased our fair intrinsic value per share for Weyerhaeuser from $29.02 in October to $34.88 in March and we’re raising it again to $35.92. Although WY’s share price has generated strong growth since 2011, we believe that the company will be able to enjoy steadily improving revenues and operating income, which will boost … Continue reading

Solar Energy Stocks had an average performing week compared to some of the gains they have made since the beginning of 2012. This week should be much more interesting with all of the Asian Markets back in full-swing and plenty of good stocks to buy still in the sector trading well under their 52 week highs. Chinese solar companies have fared best thus far since U.S. solar-equipment manufacturers are “behind the 8 ball” because China’s government manipulates its currency, boosting exports of solar panels and other materials and also uses discounts on raw materials, cash grants, preferential, low interest loans and tax incentives. President Obama spoke of commitment to alternative energy in his State of the Union speech last week when he stated: “I will not cede the wind or solar or battery industry to China or Germany because we refuse to make the same commitment here” as he talked … Continue reading
